Purple Spanish Onions
This is one of my favorite short films. I've been thinking about it a lot lately, considering the few months I have left in Indiana. Losing the comfort you get from someones familiarity is heart-wrenching, whether your love is platonic, romantic, or even if you don't love someone. You just love the idea of consistency in a person's presence.
Lord knows I've had my bags packed for a while, but I guess even when you can taste the opportunities that await you somewhere else, it's hard not to turn around. What with Rosie and the Originals humming in the background? You're probably going to tear up a little.
The flip side is just as true, I suppose. To watch everyone relocate, literally or figuratively. The picture you have of them strolling into the airport terminal; you're musing about the blaring speakers announcing that a flight to Phoenix is presenting the last call for boarding. The only comfort outside of their promises to call you is the warm scent of Cinnabon flowing from the baggage claim area.
Oh, but I guess there's always something else. Dare I quote Semisonic? I'll leave it up to you. I have to illustrate my children's' story for Creative Writing tonight. I need to find some colored pencils.
